When New Balance set the task of creating a silhouette inspired by their century-long heritage, it was no small undertaking. Thankfully NB's team has talented people like James Lee and Yue Wu – the minds behind the 90/60 project. Yue Wu was thrust into the spotlight when his 2002R 'Refined Future' (aka 'Protection Pack') was a smash-hit. Wu worked his magic on the 9060's upper, whilst Lee was responsible for the sole tooling.Using the 99x series and 860v2 as inspiration, 2000s looks converge into something new. Iconic upper panels and the 860v2 sole tooling have been morphed into something completely new. Details run deep with the tongue badge – inspired by the 991's forefoot ABZORB cell, an oversized CR motion-control device on the heel and a massive reflective N.This brown/black colourway takes the details further with asymmetrical colour blocking – using a lighter mesh on the medial side for a flash of contrast whilst in motion.
