Description
Nike pays tribute to Japanese izakaya culture. Much like the humble pub or a Spanish tapas bar, izakaya (居酒屋) are a place to go after a long day and imbibe with friends whilst enjoying some tasty bites. Continuing celebrations of the AF1, this concept has been applied to the Air Force 1 Mid.The tongue features an exaggerated tag that's designed to imitate the long receipts that follow a night enjoyed at the izakaya. Instead of the myriad of delicious meals and drinks, the receipt notes iconic moments in the 40yr history of the Air Force 1.The heel of the right shoe features a pair of Tanuki (狸) for good luck, with one holding a pair of AF1s of his own. Interestingly these aren't mid cut… The left shoe wears a star that may – or may not – be a reference to Japanese beer company Sapporo.
